Alba Iulia City Hall, Romania organizes an intercultural event within the project The Food Club (www.foodclub.blog)

Alba Iulia City Hall, Romania organizes an intercultural event within the project The Food Club (www.foodclub.blog) Thus, on October 11, 2022, Alba Iulia will receive representatives of municipalities and associations from Italy, Prague, Spain, France, and Zlatna, to discover the local gastronomic culture. In this context, gastronomy is just the glue that gathers different cultures in discussions on everyday topics

Thus, on October 12, solutions regarding discrimination, racial hatred, and food waste will be analyzed and identified within the Palace of Princes. Together with the 55 participants, we will discover the local context, we will deepen it, and will diversify the range of solutions with the support of the experience of each participant. The support elements that will be the basis of the 2 themes are represented by a questionnaire applied on the topic of discrimination and race hatred, as well as the case study represented by the Urban Garden – Grădinescu.

In the last part of the day, 40 participants will attend an experiential dinner. Thus, we will all experience the world of the blind for a few minutes. We will ponder the lifestyle they have, as well as how much the prejudices we have can influence our behavior and attitude.

To amplify the experience of cultural exchange, the event will take place in buildings and spaces with profound historical significance.

We are waiting for you to discover the other capital of Romania!

We are waiting for you in Alba Iulia!

Alba Iulia found its Greatness!

Press release after event for Project website

Alba Iulia City Hall, Romania organized an intercultural event within The Food Club project (www.foodclub.blog)

Alba Iulia City Hall is a partner in the transnational project The Food Club, together with 5 organizations from Italy, the Czech Republic, Spain, France and Romania.

One of the project’s events was hosted by Alba Iulia, on October 11-12, 2022. The guests discovered, together with a guide, the largest fortress in Romania – Cetatea Alba Carolina -, but also the local gastronomy. The main topics debated during the event were: food waste, discrimination, gender equality and equal rights.

The practical part of the event took place in two thematic workshops, attended by 100 people. Also during the workshops, examples of good practices from the Czech Republic, Spain, France and Romania were presented by each partner. The dinner part took shape by organizing an experimental dinner. Each participant was blindfolded to “enter” the world of the blind for a few moments. The initiative was also a wake-up call to the behavior, attitude, and prejudices we sometimes have towards people with visual impairments.

To amplify the experience of cultural exchange, the event will take place in buildings and spaces with profound historical significance.
